Bio of a Dark Mind:

JABarnesThe story of my writing adventure began some twelve years ago, when I wrote my first short story "The Night Visitor" for my tenth grade English Literature class. I was so amazed by the reaction I received from my fellow classmates as I read it aloud. This started the thirst for more of that response to my written word. My next short story "When it Came" took several months of writing and in the end was for me at the time a sprawling 150 pages. This story unfortunately was not fit to read aloud due to it's length and explicit language. My English Lit. Teacher agreed to read it for me and give me her honest opinion. Within a week I had my first review, which was a very good one. She had said that the writing talent was there and all I had to do was stay away from the explicit language.

Sadly to say almost four years passed until I seriously wrote again, due to my other passion of Art. It wasn't until I was reunited with a former classmate and met her husband who shared an equally powerful passion for writing. We immediately developed a connection and I helped him bring to life a manuscript that he had been working on for several years. At this time my spark was rekindled and I begun working on my first piece of writing in nearly four years. Being the Star Wars Fanatic that I am, I chose to do a Star Wars Fan Fiction. In a matter of two years I had finished the first of a three part series titled "Destiny of the Son".

Once "Destiny of the Son" was done I decided to set it aside and try to work on my first publishable Novel. With the help of my good friend "Jeffry Scott Hansen" and a quite few nightmares I plotted out "He Watches"". This Novel would prove to be a dramatic experience since I had dreamt about the gist of the book for more then two years. After four years of writing I finally finished it and sent it to be edited. Finally in April of 2005 my dream of becoming a published writer was brought to life when my publisher put the first prototype copy of my book into my hand. In May of 2005 I had my first book signing at a local store, which was an experience I will never forget. Now eight months later "He Watches" is in four book stores, one being a local Borders, and is available to order online at the Borders website, and Amazon.

I am now working on my second Novel "Terror Reef" which I am hoping to have in stores by November of 2006. I currently run and maintain my website www.shadowsofmymind.com which I write a monthly story called "Chasers" and I am also working on a small Harry Potter Fan Fiction called "The Forbidden Labyrinth" which will be posted on my website.

This is just the beginning, every step I take is another step towards my ultimate dream of writing full time...
